*RARE SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LIGHTWEIGHT RIFLE. Cal. 45-70 SN 137300 Unusual takedown rifle with 22” lightweight tapered rnd bbl, ivory bead pedestal front sight and short semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has a 3/4-length magazine and a Lyman 21 receiver sight. Wood is very nicely figured, about 2X American walnut with “H” style checkering and straight stock with Winchester embossed hard rubber shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 95% strong bright original blue with two or three small spots of rust pitting on the bbl. Receiver retains 93-95% original blue, thin on the bottom with edge wear and a small area of fine pitting on the right forward edge and correspondingly on the takedown ring. Lever retains 30-40% muted case colors with the balance silver and the hammer about 75% case colors. Wood is sound with the forearm retaining 97-98% bright piano varnish and the buttstock 95-97% with usual light handling and use marks.
