T. FRENCH U.S. MODEL 1808 CONTRACT MUSKET.

T. FRENCH U.S. MODEL 1808 CONTRACT MUSKET. Cal .69. 44-3/4” round bbl. Marked “T.FRENCH” on the lock in front of the hammer beneath an eagle holding an oval containing “US”, “CANTON” in a downward arc above 1810 on the tail of the lock. Bbl is marked with the eagle head and “CT” cartouche between the “US” and “V”. The same V is stamped on bbl tang and left side of stock above an unreadable oval cartouche. NSN. CONDITION: Gray brown patina with light pitting. Trigger guard and buttplate have a darker patina with some surface rust. Wood has numerous chips, dents and scratches and has some minor cracks at the front of the lock. There is also a fresh chip about 1/2” long above the front of the lockplate. Lock is fine and appears to be original flintlock. 4-450081 FS128 (2,000-3,000)
