UNUSUAL INDIAN SPLINT DECORATED UMBRELLA HOLDER. Possibly Pina, this tall cylindrical container with hand-holds on either side; splint wrapped with diamond shaped design outlined in red and green. This late 19th or early 20th century basket is of an unusual Indian form obviously made for commercial purposes of the day when umbrella holders were fashionable and common. SIZE: 23” h, diameter approximately 13”. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. A couple of small losses on splint wrapping on side and on top. Generally structurally sound, and a very interesting late 19th or early 20th century Indian made piece. 9-29481 (600-900)
