FINE LARGE ADAM & EVE PICTORIAL SCHOOL GIRL SAMPLER . Strawberry vine border with top corners having white doves. Four alpha-numeric rows over “The Ten Commandments In Verse” which are set in two columns. Next is a verse “The Desire” which has three long lines. Next is a two-line verse which is situated on either side of a large apple tree. Bottom of tree has the serpent eating from Eve’s hand and Adam on other side. Four other trees with white doves atop, two baskets of fruit and other small bushes. Housed in a thin wood frame. Note attached to back indicates this sampler was done by a member of the Lewis Family and was buried during two wars – the Civil War and the War of 1812- on the family estate “Towles Point” Lancaster, Virginia. SIGHT SIZE: 24″ x 22″. CONDITION: Very good condition. Some fading . 9-90745 (1,500-2,500)
