EADWEARD MUYBRIDGE (American, 1830-1904) “DESCENDING STAIRS, TURNING AND FLIRTING A FAN”. Rare gelatin negative has four rows of six images each showing front and side views. Two rows showing a woman in gown with fan descending four stairs and walking forward, and two rows show the same action from the back view. The negative is marked “Copyrighted 1887, by Eadweard Muybridge” and in right hand corner hand numbered “798”. Contained in a period heavy paper envelope which has title and number “9.798” handwritten. Also has written in pen, which appears to be later “Mrs. J.H. James sister of Mrs. George F. Bush, Princeton”. SIZE: 20-1/4” x 13”. CONDITION: One fold crease to left corner, otherwise good. 9-73316-2 (500-1,000)
