EXTREMELY RARE TINTYPE IMAGE OF FAMOUS MOUNTAIN MAN JIM BRIDGER. This half-plate 5” x 7” tintype depicts a seated frontal portrait of renowned scout, mountain man, trapper, explorer & guide Jim Bridger. He was born in 1806 & died in 1881. Bridger was also a guide for Captain Howard Stansbury in 1849-50 during the survey of the Great Salt Lake. He was also a scout for the government among other adventurous pursuits. This tintype was done probably some time in the 1870’s and depicts Bridger with full face of whiskers & long hair.
