GOOD EARLY FIVE SLAT LADDER-BACK ARMCHAIR. In an old crusty varnish and painted surface. Some of the original decoration is on the slats with the top having a family crest and decorations on other slats. The broad arms are well worn with nice patina, front posts with good turnings under arms. Rush seat with turned stretchers. 18th Century. PROVENANCE: From a Newburyport, Massachusetts home. SIZE: 46-1/2” h x 15-1/2” seat h x 24” across arms. CONDITION: Ended out feet, old if not original finish which has extensive alligatoring but with a very nice look. 9-28501 (800-1200)
