FINE CHINESE EXPORT FAMILLE ROSE ARMORIAL BARREL FORM MUG. Circa 1785. The crest having an iron red winged lion’s head oval cartouche incorporating a gilt lion passant, crossed “X” and four nails. Flanked on either side by a partially draped cherub holding a flambeau. They stand above a banner motto “lucem tuam da Nobis o deum” (the arms of the glazer’s Company. Several top borders with a bead decoration on top, bottom and handle. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection. SIZE: 4-3/4” h. CONDITION: Very good. 9-72603 (1,000-1,500)
