EARLY PAINTED AND CARVED WOOD CHURCH FIGURE. Elder religious figure of a man in a black robe with white hair and bears sits with one hand up in a two-finger and thumb blessing gesture. His other hand is resting on a wood support. Probably 18th Century or earlier. The squared flat back and bottom indicates that it probably sat on a small shelf in a church alter or a similar location. SIZE: 29-1/2” h x 12” w x 10” d. CONDITION: Generally very good with some gesso damage, most notably on the right side of his robe. 5-61778 (1500-2500)
