RARE HALL SPORTING RIFLE.

RARE HALL SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 50. SN: 42. 33” octagonal bbl. Marked “JOHN H. HALL / PATENT” on top of the breechblock, “W.S” on the right side. There is no sign of conversion around the nipple or welding on the hammer, possibly original percussion. The front sight with an offset blade, is brass as is all of the furniture. The ramrod appears to be original. From the F. P. L. Mills collection, #99 on his inventory. CONDITION: Fine overall. 90% original brown on the bbl and receiver. Breechblock appears to have been casehardened but that is now all turned silver. Brass furniture is mostly a mellow patina with some signs of cleaning on the patchbox. Wood is fine with light handling marks. 4-52670 FS92 (8,000-12,000)
