ROBERT SALMON (American, 1775-1858) FISHING PARTY-BEACHING A BOAT. Oil on wood panel scene shows four men pulling a boat onto beach. Several men bring large buckets of fish up to clearing in front of rock outcropping with large passageway. Two sails are seen in distance along a rocky shoreline. Sun from right side casts a pink hue on the clouds that are present. Signed on reverse “Painted by R. Salmon 1804”. There are also numbers “No. 37” and “#53”. Faintly signed lower right. Housed in an antique cut down gold frame. PROVENANCE: Richard Bourne Auction 11/29/69 lot #248. SIZE: 12” x 16”. CONDITION: Good. 9-29748 (9,000-12,000)
