RARE WINCHESTER SPECIAL ORDER 2ND MODEL 1876 DELUXE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 50 Express (50-95). SN 45759. Beautiful deluxe rifle with 26” oct bbl, button magazine, ivory bead hunting front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight and Lyman tang sight. It has highly figured, about 4X, checkered American walnut wood with fleur-de-lis black insert, small pistol grip butt stock with full-checkered black hard rubber buttplate. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle as it is and stating that it has a “small grip”. It was shipped August 12, 1885. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 75-85% plum/blue/brown patina with some rust pitting near the muzzle end that appears to be blood spots. Receiver retains case colors in the very sheltered areas with the balance a mottled silver/brown patina. Lever and hammer retain 25-35% muted case colors. Wood is sound, missing a couple of chips by the top tang with numerous small nicks, dings and scratches and retains about 90% original piano varnish finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with some scattered fine pitting. 4-52543 JR289 (15,000-25,000)
