*WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION MUSKET. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 570900. Standard musket with 30” rnd bbl, Baker square base front sight/bayonet lug and musket ladder rear sight. It has three bbl bands with integral sling loop on the middle band and corresponding base and loop on the butt stock. The wood is straight grain American walnut with full-length forearm, straight stock and musket buttplate with trap containing 5-pc all iron-wiping rod. Accompanied by an original blued Winchester socket bayonet without scabbard. CONDITION: Extremely fine, probably unfired. Bbl retains 96-97% strong bright original blue with a few scattered spots of crusty rust pitting. Receiver retains 96-97% bright original factory blue with a couple of spots of moderate pitting and a series of scratches on the right sideplate. Lever retains about 70% bright case colors with the balance fading to gray. Hammer retains most of its brilliant case colors and the buttplate about 85% colors. Wood is sound with several deep bruises on the right side of the buttstock and other minor nicks and scratches and retains most of its factory original oil finish. Crisp mechanics and brilliant shiny bore. Bayonet is near new. 4-52551 JR296 (3,000-5,000)
