REGENCY INLAID MAHOGANY BUTLER’S DESK. Circa 1800. The rectangular top with applied molded edge fitted with a single deep drawer opening to a tooled leather writing surface, the interior fitted with cubbyholes and seven small drawers over a pair of cupboard doors opening to a shelf, the drawer and doors with ebony stringing, the whole on a molded plinth. SIZE: 40″ h. x 34″ w. x 19-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Retains original old dark finish. The top is plugged in the absence of the secretary top; the base retains the outlines of the missing bracket feet. Hardware replaced with period replacements. Otherwise normal shrinkage within acceptable limits. Nice small cabinet. 9-92352 (1,400-2,000)
