SCARCE EARLY COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN 113775. Nickel finish with 4-3/4″ bbl, 2-line small block letter address with altered front sight. Last three digits of serial number are stamped under ejector rod housing and, curiously, on back & front of cylinder on web between two chambers. It has 3-line patent markings & 1-pc ivory grip with raised carved Mexican eagle on right side. There is a small “G” stamped underneath serial number on trigger guard & a small “O” on back of cylinder. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter identifying this revolver with nickel finish & carved steer head ivory grips shipped Dec. 2, 1885 to Browning Bros., Ogden, Utah in a 1-gun shipment. CONDITION: Fair, all matching except grips which are unnumbered. Traces of orig finish remain on bottom front of frame, sides of trigger guard, back strap & hammer with balance being a cleaned gray metal patina with some fine surface pitting. Base pin, cylinder bushing & base pin screw are replacements as are three trigger guard screws & buttstrap screw. Fine mechanics, grips are very worn with myriad age lines & have a replaced sliver at right toe. Strong bright bore with fine light pitting. 4-57588 JR274 (1,500-2,500)
