SOAPSTONE CARVING. 18th century or earlier, China. Figure of a mythical animal with a cub. Gray colored stone. Accompanied by a carved and fitted hardwood stand. SIZE: Statue: 3-3/4″ h x 5-1/4″ l. Overall: 5-3/4″ h x 5″ l. CONDITION: Old restoration to damage around neck and left forepaw. With old stress crack left rear hind quarters. Otherwise very good with nice surfaces.
