COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN 88761. Usual configuration with 5-1/2″ bbl, 3-line patent dates and raised carved 1-pc ivory grips. The left side of the grip has a deep relief lawman holding a rifle with a holster & a revolver. The right side of the grip has a raised 5-pointed star with a miniature Texas Ranger badge in the center. The butt strap is stamped in very neat fashion “TEXAS RANGERS / DEPT. OF PUBLIC SAFETY”. Bbl address is re-rolled. Grips, while old, are not orig to this gun & Texas Ranger marking may be later. Accompanied by Colt Factory letter identifying this revolver, type of stocks not listed, shipped May 15, 1883 to Hartley & Graham, New York, NY in a shipment of 50 guns. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Frame retains 10-15% orig nickel-plating & the front strap about 50% nickel finish with traces elsewhere being mostly a silver/gray patina with fine pitting and heavy wear around the muzzle and fine pitting on the cylinder. Two frame screws are replaced. Grips are sound with a small chip on the left toe and have a fine light patina. Mechanics are fine. Strong bore with light pitting.
