COLT SINGLE ACTION ARTILLERY REVOLVER WITH AINSWORTH INSPECTOR MARKS AND HOLSTER. Cal 45LC. SN 3412 on frame, 3670 on bbl, 3319 on cylinder, 7320 on triggerguard and 720 on backstrap. The 5-1/2″ bbl, backstrap, triggerguard, and cylinder all have a small “A” inspector mark. The 2-line marking on the left side of the frame is followed by “U.S.” The marking on top of the bbl has slanted letters, no cartouche is visible on the grips. Several screws have been replaced. The U.S. holster by “LANZ, OWEN & CO. / CHICAGO” has been shortened and an extra hole added in the flap. Accompanied by a copy of a Colt Factory letter identifying this revolver with bbl length & type of stocks not listed. It indicates shipment on Nov. 26, 1901 to the U.S. Government, Commanding Officer Manila, P.I. in a shipment of 100 guns. CONDITION: All metal surfaces have been lightly cleaned. Grips show considerable wear with a tiny chip missing at the right toe. Action is fine. Holster has numerous small cracks and “US” oval on the front is worn almost smooth. 4-56624 FS104 (2,500-3,500)
