CUSTOM WINCHESTER HIGH WALL SGL SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 44-40. NSN. Beautiful custom rifle with 28″ about a #2 weight R.F. Sedgley bbl with ivory bead pedestal front sight & Sedgley custom 1/4 rib mounted with rings containing a Weaver K3 scope. It has extremely beautiful highly figured & colorful burl center crotch cut flame grain claro walnut stock & forearm with checkered schnable tip forearm & pistol grip stock, 13-1/2″ over a checkered steel Niedner buttplate. It has cheek piece for a left handed shooter. It has a Marbles spring loaded tang sight & a custom long lever. Receiver is spectacularly engraved by Emma Achlitner well-known engraver from Gun Digest, etc. Receiver, top & bottom tangs are coin finished with a very detailed Western scene with two raised gold buffalo & a cow skull with foliate & floral patterns surrounded by a border gold wire inlay. There is more gold wire around the back edge of the receiver & over the top. Right side of the receiver has an equally detailed scene of a spectacular raised Indian with full headdress on a horse with more foliate & floral decorations. Lower front of the right side has Ms. Achlitner’s cryptic signature. Bottom tang, front & back edges of the receiver & the entire top are beautifully engraved with foliate & floral patterns with shaded background. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Retains virtually all of its fine custom finish to both metal & wood. Mechanics are crisp, very bright shiny bore. 4-56486 JR696 (3,000-5,000)
