RARE MARLIN MODEL 1897 ENGRAVED DELUXE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22. SN 219526. Wonderful little deluxe rifle with 28″ tapered oct bbl, ivory bead front sight, Lyman 6A rear sight and a Lyman tang sight. It has half magazine, with deluxe flame grain center crotch cut walnut wood with deluxe checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with nickeled brass Swiss buttplate. Buttstock has a slight perch belly. Receiver is beautifully engraved in Conrad Ulrich style consisting of a large vignette of stag & hind on the left side and a stag on the right side all surrounded by beautiful foliate arabesque patterns. Engraving extends about 2-1/2″ over the top three flats of the bbl. It has fine border patterns over the top of the receiver. Bbl & left side of the forearm are mounted with an early style scope base and an extra dovetail just forward of the forearm. Lever, hammer, buttplate & forend cap are nickel-plated. CONDITION: As noted, very fine. Bbl & magazine tube retain about 95% strong bright orig blue. Receiver retains 60-70% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. Stock has a hairline in the left wrist & a couple of grain checks on the right side, otherwise the wood is sound & retains most of a fine professionally restored finish.
