RARE COLT SGL ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 450 Eley Short. SN 24682. Nickel finish with 5-1/2″ bbl, 1-line Hartford address with 1-pc dark walnut or ebony grips. It has 2-line patent numbers on the left side with the left rear edge of the trigger guard marked with what appears to be “450 CAL / B”. Bbl & cylinder have tiny British proofs with the bbl having the recess for the 1st style ejector rod housing but has been modified to accept 2nd type, which it currently has, along with a bull’s eye ejector rod head. Cylinder is numbered “4317” and is chambered for 45 Colt. The 450 Eley short cartridge will chamber nicely. Accompanied by a full box of 50 Kynoch .450 revolver cartridges. Also accompanied by a Colt Factory letter identifying this gun as having been shipped with blue finish on October 26, 1876 to Colt’s Pall Mall London Agency in a shipment of 112 guns. CONDITION: All matching except the cylinder, as noted above. Overall retains most of a restored nickel finish with some fine pitting on the frame. Grips are sound and retain most of dark oiled patina. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with light to moderate pitting. Ammunition & box are crisp. 4-57106 JR626 (2,500-3,000)
