*TOM SELLECK’S PERSONAL WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 HUNTING RIFLE. Cal. 25-35. SN 323674. Spectacular engraved & re-built deluxe takedown 1894 that Mr. Selleck had built for him to use as a hunting rifle. He subsequently decided that it was not a caliber of sufficient energy for most North American game and has decided to sell it. This special rifle has a 24″ oct to rnd bbl, Lyman ivory bead front sight, Lyman 6A folding rear sight and a Lyman Model 21 receiver sight. It has half magazine & spectacular center crotch cut, flame grain American walnut wood with “H” style checkered forearm & capped pistol grip stock, 14″ over a crescent buttplate. Receiver, forend cap, takedown ring, lever, hammer & buttplate are all beautifully case colored in typical Winchester colors. These pieces are also very nicely engraved by Angelo Bee with Mr. Selleck’s initials “T.W.S.” in gold on the left side. Left side of the receiver has two large flourishes of very fine foliate arabesque patterns with punch dot background & a beautiful Ulrich style scalloped border. Right side has a large vignette of a standing, Big Horn sheep in a Mountain scene with a couple of arabesque flourishes and a matching border. All the other pieces have light arabesque patterns with incised line borders. Even the hammer & Lyman receiver sight have matching engraved patterns. Stock & forend cap have Winchester-style sling eyes.

Accompanied by a signed & notarized letter from Mr. Selleck stating that he had this rifle created with Doug Turnbull doing most of the work including a new bbl & new wood. Mr. Selleck stated that prior to sending the gun to Angelo Bee for engraving he, personally, did all of the polishing on the receiver. During the engraving process Mr. Bee rounded off one of the edges and the receiver had to be repolished by Mr. Selleck to bring back the sharp edges. He states that he has many, many hours invested in this project. Also accompanied by an 8×10 color photograph of Mr. Selleck in his role as Paul Cable in the movie, Last Stand at Saber River.

CONDITION: Extremely fine. Appears unfired since being rebuilt. Retains virtually all of its spectacular custom finish to both metal & wood. There are two small creases in the varnish and a small bruise on the forearm. Blue is typical Winchester & the case colors are also typically Winchester and are vivid & bright. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4-55126 JR497 (8,000-12,000)
