VERY RARE SWIVEL BARREL RIFLE.

VERY RARE SWIVEL BARREL RIFLE. CAL. 38. 26” bbls. Marked “W. ROBERTS O4. / DANSVILLE N.Y. 1855” on top of the bbl. The same marking appears on the lockplates, which are engraved around the edges with matching engraving on the hammer. The bbl is equipped with different sights on each pair. One side has a clamp on globe front sight and a blank in the slot at the rear. Apparently this sight is to be used with the adjustable tang sight. The other pair of bbls has individual sights for each bbl. CONDITION: Smooth gray/blue patina on the bbls. Silver/gray on the action with light pitting on the buttplate. Bbls have probably been cleaned. One of the nipples is a replacement. Stock has been repaired at the wrist and refinished. 4-52685 FS148 (4,000-7,000)
