EARLY COLT SGL ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN 53785. Nickel finish with 7-1/2″ bbl with block letter address, fixed sights, 3-line patent numbers on the frame, “45 CAL” on the left front web of the trigger guard and beautiful 1-pc ivory grip. This revolver will letter as having been shipped in 1880 to Hartley & Graham as a blue finished gun. This apparently is a records mistake as there is no doubt that this finish is orig to this revolver. Accompanies is a photocopy of a Colt letter stating this gun was shipped to Hartley & Graham, New York, NY on February 13, 1880 & included in a shipment of 50 guns. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. All matching including the bbl & cylinder. Overall retains 85-90% strong orig nickel on the bbl & frame, while the cylinder retains about 60% orig nickel with some minor light pitting. Bbl has some light pimpling around the muzzle & a little on the right side. Hammer retains most of its orig case colors turning dark. Screws retain most of their orig blue finish turned dark. Grips are sound with several age lines & retain a wonderful aged patina with a large chip missing from the right side at the frame. Timing needs attention, otherwise mechanics are fine. Strong bright bore with scattered pitting. 4-57184 JR547 (4,000-6,000)
