COVERED ROUND IVORY BOX. Last quarter, 19th century, Japan. (Meiji Period) Carved with elephant attacking a tiger. The reverse carved with tiger in retreat on a rocky landscape. Lid carved with tiger. SIZE: 5-1/4″ h. CONDITION: Box missing base. Otherwise good. Inked and stained elements intact. Lid possibly originally had a finial (now absent). 7-70376 (100-200)
