SINO-TIBETAN GILT BRONZE IMAGE. Hsuan Te Period (1426-1435). Figure of Shadakshariavalokiteshvara. Accompanied by interior offerings. Of the offering, three remain wrapped in string tied fabric and have not been disturbed from their original presentation. A fourth object, enclosed in a silk pouch, is best described as being in the shape of a gold acorn with removable lid within which is a conforming wooden capsule. Also present is the base plate for the figure and pieces of the original liners. SIZE: 8″ h. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of the late Professor Theodor Lugs by descent through the family to his daughter. CONDITION: Gilded surfaces remain largely intact.
