CASED ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON 1ST MODEL 2ND ISSUE SPUR TRIGGER REVOLVER. Cal. 22 Short. SN 36011. Fabulous early engraved revolver that is probably factory. It has 3-1/8″ keyhole oct bbl with German silver front sight & rosewood grips numbered to the revolver. Frame, bbl, backstrap, buttstrap & bottom front of the frame, along with a light border around the front edge of the cylinder are very nicely engraved with light foliate arabesque patterns & has full silver plated bbl, frame & cylinder. Accompanied by a distributor’s rosewood case, 8-3/16″ long x 4-9/16″ wide x 1-9/16″ deep with small rectangular brass plate in the lid & aftermarket brass reinforced corners. It has gold plated brass lock escutcheon & hinges. Interior is lined with burgundy velvet with a bbl rest block & cartridge block. CONDITION: Revolver is very fine. Retains about 95-96% strong orig silver plating overall with some slight muzzle edge loss & light pimpling on the bbl. Cylinder has losses primarily in the engraving. Grips are extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp, strong bright bore with three or four spots of deep pitting. Case is very fine. 4-57452 JR786 (3,000-4,500)
