NEW ENGLAND FEDERAL STYLE INLAID MAHOGANY TAMBOUR SECRETARY. First half 20th century. This bench-made example of small size, in two parts. The bow front upper section with three urn form finials on a shaped cornice above a pair of astragal glazed doors and molded arched mullions opening to shelves, above a pair of tambour doors centering a prospect door, all opening to interiors fitted with balanced pigeon holes and small drawers. The lower case of three long bow front cross-banded drawers beneath a hinged folding writing surface, raised on squared tapered legs. SIZE: Ht 82″ W 29 1/2″ D 20″ CONDITION: Overall in need of cosmetic restoration and re-polishing. Currently of good color. 9-97403 (2,850-4,750)
