EGYPTIAN MICRO MOSAIC AND GOLD PARURE. Second half 19th century. Presented in its original leather case, the three piece parure consisting of a necklace with woven rope gold chain joined by a floral micro mosaic domed clasp continuing to three micro mosaic pendants, the centermost with a cherub on a white ground above a lesser scrolled pendant Orthodox cross, flanked by rosettes of micro mosaic floral sprays, each with a drop pendant decorated with a micro mosaic butterfly. The bracelet with a pair of rosettes, each with a polychrome jeweled sacred scarab. The circular brooch similarly decorated with a micro mosaic jeweled sacred scarab. SIZE: 15-1/2″ l of necklace. PROVENANCE: From a prominent Southern Connecticut family. CONDITION: Very fine old original condition. Clasps and fasteners intact. Some minor losses to micro mosaic work in clasp of necklace together with other minor individual losses. Gold metalwork is unmarked and untested. 9-96532 (10,000-20,000)
