UNIDENTIFIED FLINTLOCK MUSKET. NSN. Cal. 71. 45-3/4” part oct bbl. Maple stock. Marked “CP” vertically at the tail of the lockplate. “J.MANN” branded twice on the right side of the buttstock. The stock has a Lehigh style butt and a very plain forearm. Bbl appears to be European, but no proof marks are visible. The touch hole appears to have been bushed, but the lockplate shows no work. The artificially-striped ramrod has a single pipe at the front end and no tailpipe. The trigger guard is of the 1795 style with points on both ends. A 2-1/4” x 3-1/2” chip has been replaced at the toe of the stock. A brass sight has been installed at the front of the oct. portion of the bbl. CONDITION: Rust/brown patina overall with some signs of cleaning on the bbl. Stock is good, as refinished after repair. Mechanically good. 8-76197 (2,500-3,500)
