HILLIARD HALF-STOCK RIFLE. CAL. 38. 30-3/4” octagonal bbl, marked “D.H. HILLIARD / CORNISH / N.H. / CAST-STEEL” on the right quarter flat of the bbl, “JOSEPH GOLCHER” on the engraved lockplate. The iron patchbox has a seated deer finial. Tiger maple stock. The peep sight folds for use with the hunting sight on the bbl. The ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina overall. Wood has been repaired and refinished but new cracks are developing opposite the lock. Moderate pitting on the patchbox. Mechanically fine. 4-52701 FS150 (800-1,200)
