COLT BURGESS LEVER ACTION RIFLE.

COLT BURGESS LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44-40. SN 4005. Standard grade rifle with 25-1/2″ slightly heavier than standard oct bbl with Rocky Mountain front sight & semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has uncheckered nicely figured American walnut wood with straight stock & crescent butt with trap. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 75-80% blue turning plum and the magazine tube is a blue/gray patina. Forend cap screw is replaced with a pin. Receiver is a light gray patina with a series of light scratches on both sides. Rampant Colt is fully visible and there are wrench marks on the front edge of the receiver. Forearm has a crack over the loading gate spring area and is missing a sliver by the bbl channel on each side. Stock has a crack back of the upper & lower tangs and overall the wood retains most of an old refinish. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with good shine, lightly frosted in the grooves.
