The original mahogany case marked “THE GORHAM CO. 5TH AVEANUE, NEW YORK” being fitted with custom velvet compartments to hold both serving pieces and place settings. The top having a brass inscribed plate “KATHARINE HAZZARD SHEAFFER 1928”. The original key is present. The set consists of 12-8″ iced tea spoons; 12-7″ spoons; 12-5-1/2″ grapefruit spoons; 12-5-1/2″ coffee spoons; 12-5-1/4″ bouillon spoons; 12-4-1/4″ demitasse spoons; 12-5-3/4″ teaspoons; 4-8-1/2″ tablespoons; 12-7″ soup spoons; 12-8″ dinner forks; 13-7″ luncheon forks; 12-6-1/2″ salad forks; 12-5-1/4″ h’ors d’oeuvres forks; 13-5-1/2″ solid-handled butter knives; 12-8-1/2″ luncheon knives with stainless steel blades; 12-9-1/2″ dinner knives with stainless steel blades; a 2-pc 14-1/2″ carving set; a 2-pc 12″ carving set; a 10″ pie server; a 2-pc 8-3/4″ salad set; a 9″ meat fork; a 7″ ladle; a 5-3/4″ ladle; a 6″ sugar spoon; a 6″ jelly server; and a 4-1/4″ sugar tongs. The case fitted for everything but the soup spoons, the pie server, the small ladle and the jelly server. Applied pointed oval monogram “KSH”. Total 195 Troy oz. (without hollow handled items).
