J.B. SMITH UNDERHAMMER RIFLE. CAL. 50. 28-1/4” octagonal bbl, marked “J. B. SMITH / NORTHFIELD, VT / CAST.STEEL / WARRANTED GAIN – TWIST” on top of the bbl, partially covered by the cantilever sight and “HITCHCOCK & MUZZY / CAST-STEEL” on the right side. The bottom of the bbl is marked “3 1 1/4”. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina with heavy pitting on the nose of the hammer. Stock has been repaired and lightly sanded at the hammer screw.
