RARE MARTIALLY MARKED COLT 51 NAVY. Cal. 36 Perc. Early U.S. Navy with 7-1/2” oct bbl, brass cone front sight, small “U.S.” beneath the Colt’s Patent on the left side of the frame. There is a small “M” on the left side of the trigger guard root and an “A” on the face of the cylinder. It has silver plated brass small round trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc varnished walnut grips. It has 1-line New York address. SN 57640. CONDITION: Very fine plus, all matching including the wedge. Bbl retains 30-40% thin blue with the balance a light patina. The rammer pivot has bright case colors with the handle and rod a silver patina. The frame retains 85-90% strong case colors, fading and beginning to turn silver around the edges. Grips have some minor chipping along the left edge, otherwise are sound and retain about 95% bright original varnish with a few small dings and scratches. The trigger guard and backstrap retain 95-96 % strong bright original silver. The cylinder retains 60-70% original scene, is overall a light patina with 4 of the 6 pins nearly intact. The hand spring is either broken or missing. The sides of the hammer are pitted. The bore is strong with some shine and moderate pitting. 4-49138 JR266 (6,000-7,500)
