RIPLEY UNDERHAMMER RIFLE. Cal. 56 Smoothbore. 29” part octagonal bbl, marked “J.B. RIPLEY & Co / CLAREMONT N.H. / 1837” on the top flat of the bbl. Two rear sights have been installed at different times and both are missing. The Birdseye maple stock has brass mountings. CONDITION: Brown patina with moderate to heavy pitting on the iron parts.
