MARLIN MODEL 1889 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 32 WCF (32-20). SN 75902. Standard grade rifle with 26″ oct bbl, full magazine, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight & semi-buckhorn rear sight. Top of receiver is marked “MARLIN SAFETY”. It has very nicely figured uncheckered slab sawed American walnut with straight stock & crescent buttplate. It was shipped November 17, 1892. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl & magazine tube retain 97-98% orig finish, strong & bright on bbl with a couple of minor scratches & some slight dulling over chamber area. Magazine tube just in front of forend is turning plum. Receiver retains 85-90% orig finish, glossy bright blue on left side & most of top with right side having a worn area on bolt & forward part, apparently from carrying. Rear half of right side & front edge have glossy bright blue. Screws are slightly battered. Left side of lever retains most of its faded case colors while right side retains 25-30% faded colors with balance turned silver. Buttplate retains most of its orig case colors very faded but visible. Wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches, two gouges on right side of wrist & a couple of others on right side of butt with another on forearm, otherwise retains virtually all of a strong bright orig finish.
