SCARCE MARTIALLY MARKED COLT NEW HAMPSHIRE 2ND MODEL DRAGOON. Cal. 44 Perc. Usual configuration with 7-1/2” oct to round bbl, German silver front sight, brass trigger guard and backstrap containing 1-pc walnut grips with a fine legible cartouche on each side. The left side of bbl is very nicely stamped “New Hampshire” in small lettering. There is a tiny “U.S.” below the Colt’s Patent on the frame and tiny inspectors’ initials on the various parts, including the left grip. SN 10712. CONDITION: Fine, all matching including the wedge. Bbl retains a smooth, even medium brown patina, as does the rammer and lever. The frame retains a fine, smooth silver-gray patina with some fine pitting on the hammer nose. The cylinder is an even silver-brown patina with fine pitting around the front edge. Retains 60-70% original Indian fight scene. The trigger guard and backstrap are a medium mustard patina. Grips are extremely fine, showing light wear with 2 or 3 dings, minutely chipped toes with good “JCB” cartouche on the left side and “WAT” cartouche on the right side. It has a strong bore with moderate pitting. 4-49488 (15,000-25,000)
