SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1855 RIFLE MUSKET. Cal .58. 40” part oct bbl. Dated 1860 on the lock and bbl. Issue marks “A / 26” is stamped at the rear of bbl tang and ”77” is on the left side of the stock just below the “JS” cartouche. NSN. CONDITION: Metal has been lightly cleaned except at breech where heavier cleaning was required to remove some of the vise marks. There is still some moderate pitting at the bolster. Wood has light handling marks with a few dents and scratches. Action is good. 4-49777 FS68 (1,000-2,000)
