NEW ENGLAND COTTON APPLIQUE QUILT. Last quarter 19th century. Wrought principally with four fruit trees with red birds at their bases. Center with a blooming flower head and with yellow birds in flight feeding from the trees. With a meandering grape vine border interspersed with red and yellow birds. SIZE: 6′ 2″ x 5′ 11″. PROVENANCE: Robert Frederick Woolworth Estate, Monmouth, Maine. (F.W. Woolworth Store). CONDITION: Structurally very good. Colors remain vibrant, slight yellowing to ivory ground. 9-23571 (800-1,200)
