UNUSUAL FAR EASTERN BRASS AND COPPER LOTUS BLOSSOM INCENSE BURNER. 19th century. This exceptional table top example in the likeness of a Lotus blossom mounted upon a shallow urn joined to a stepped circular plinth supported on the back of a fanciful turtle on a carpet with stepped and inset corners. Upon turning the lotus blossom within the urn, it elevates on a spiral twist shaft allowing the blossom to open exposing a bowl form censer in which incense is burned. This example, nicely hammered, etched, and decorated is made of copper and brass elements artfully combined.
