ATTRIBUTED TO WILLIAM DANIELL (British, 1769-1837) PANORAMIC VIEW OF CALCUTTA. Unsigned oil on canvas panoramic view of what we believe to be Calcutta, India shown in the 19th Century under British rule. The foreground shows several figures in native garb tending to a field and standing next to a fenced and treed river. The background shows the panoramic view of a large city with multi-story white buildings. A large British flag is seen at center of painting. A large sailing vessel can be seen moored in water on left side and a vessel can be seen on the right side in the distance. The sky has large dark clouds with blue sky overhead. Housed in an interesting antique and possibly original gold frame. SIZE: 14-1/2″ X 30″. CONDITION: Relined, restored with inpainting. 9-93753 (12,000-18,000)
