NARCISSE-VIRGIL DIAZ DE LA PENA (French, 1807-1876) A TURKISH BOUDOIR. Fine oil on wood panel interior scene shows three young women in a bedroom setting with gold curtains, a stand having a water decanter and vase of flowers. On floor is a water pipe and a mattress/pillow is set on colorful carpet. The women are finely dressed, one in a blue outfit, the other in red and white. A young Turkish boy with fez is approaching the women with back to viewer. Light shines from inside the curtains in a very nice Orientalist scene. Signed “N Diaz” bottom right. Housed in a fine gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liners, one having a brass name plaque. Panel supported by a lattice cradle. SIZE: 17-1/2″ x 12-3/4″.
