EARLY SILVER & CARVED IVORY STEIN. 18th/19th century. The stein’s body with high relief carving of a Classical scene with cherubs in festive setting with one cherub picking grapes, another asleep with flasks beside, and another holding a small reptile. An ivory C-scroll handle, a silver lid with 3″ h carved ivory finial with cherub and dog. The lid interior and base in an unmarked silver. SIZE: 10-1/2″ h. CONDITION: The finial is unglued from cover but intact, the center carved body with a 2″ crack by handle. Nice patina to ivory. The ivory seat for finial has been split. 9-22014 (4,000-6,000)
