GEORGE III STERLING SILVER COVERED TWO-HANDLED SERVING DISH. Makers mark “WS”, London, 1801/2. The elongated octagon sided dish having two C-end handles, oval interior with shaped center divider. A conforming top with domed center area supporting a fixed reeded loop handle fashioned from two cornucopias. The top & bottom marked “1”. The cover & side of base having matching engraved banner with Latin phrase “Deus providebit” under a standing soldier. WEIGHT: 39 tr. oz. SIZE: 5-1/4″ h x 15″ l with handles x 7-3/4″ w. PROVENANCE: Robert Frederick Woolworth Estate, Monmouth, Maine. (F.W. Woolworth Store). CONDITION: Some light dimples, generally very good. 9-23545 (800-1,200)
