CONTINENTAL MARQUETRY SAVONAROLA CHAIR. Mid 19th Century. The arched and scalloped back splat joined to pilasters with pronounced squat finials, joined to down-sloping arms ending in rolled grips centering a plank seat, raised on frontal and rear arched supports joined by rectangular side stretchers on stepped platforms. The whole with dense contrasting marquetry masks, fanciful figures in cartouches and overall vinery. SIZE: 38-1/2″ h to back x 25-1/2″ overall w. CONDITION: Retains old cleaned finish. Restored with old break at the frontal support. Overall good. 9-96293 (500-800)
