IMPRESSIVE MAJOLICA FIGURAL CENTERPIECE PROBABLY WILHELM SATTLER. Second quarter 19th century. In the form of a fanciful sauceboat with a scrolling handle decorated with masks with a turquoise interior and a scrolling cartouche beneath the prow. Supported by a crouching chimera joined to a scrolling base decorated with leaf tips. Raised on scrolled feet decorated with scallop shells. Beneath the base the maker’s mark of “WS & S” within a rectangular embossed stamp. In addition, the serial number 6532 is engraved beneath the glaze. A gilt painted “KS” on the interior of a foot. SIZE: Ht 21 3/4″ L 17 3/4″ W 8 1/2″ CONDITION: Very good original condition with no evidence of restoration or other damage. 9-97709 (1,000-2,000)
