EXCEPTIONAL CLASSICAL REVIVAL DAVENPORT DESK. Second half 19th century. This fine example in mahogany with rosewood veneers and ebonized finished with ormolu trim overall. The desk with three-quarter gilt metal mounted gallery, the hinged top opening to a compartmented interior. The hinged lid with monogrammed cartouche of brass inlay hinged and opening to to a pullout writing slide inset with tooled green leather writing surface raised on fluted swelled columnar supports with gilt metal mounts. The case fitted with a bank of four drawers, right side facing opposed by a bank of four simulated drawers. Desk is finished on all sides. SIZE: 35-1/2″ h overall x 23-1/2″ w x 22″ d. CONDITION: Ebonized surfaces original, as are all inlays and mounts. Surfaces with some dryness and minor cracking. Very good overall. 9-90045 (700-1,200)
