CHIPPENDALE STYLE MAHOGANY DWARF TALL CLOCK. Late 19th, early 20th century, New England. The molded swan’s neck pediment with floral rosette above the arched frieze relief carved with scrolling tendrils above an arched molded door flanked by reeded free-standing colonnettes. The weight driven brass movement with sheet iron face. The dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and time and strike apertures beneath a moon phase dial within the arch. The enameled dial decorated with floral spandrels. The molded panel door flanked by engaged reeded quarter columns above the molded box base raised on ogee bracket feet. Offered with weights, pendulum and winder. SIZE: 58-1/2″ h, 6-3/4″ w of throat, 8-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate. CONDITION: Movement clean. Moon phase dial unattached. Face and case with original surfaces. Swan’s neck pediment proper right side need reattaching with restoration to floral rosette. Finial absent. Otherwise good. 9-29187 (1,000-2,000)
