CLEMENT DREW (American, 1806-1889) “LEE SHORE OFF BRACES ROCK, EAST GLOUCESTER”. Oil on canvas scene shows a three-mast ship in half sail sailing past a rock outcropping in white capped greenish ocean. Thatchers Island can be seen straight away with the Twin Lighthouses. Signed lower right “C Drew”. Also retaining a photograph of the title that was on the back of canvas before relining and dated “1884”. Housed in what appears to be its original gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 18″ x 30″. CONDITION: Relined, small scrape top left, inpainting. Very good. 9-93820 (3,000-5,000)
